For those that seriously cut down on TV or did away with it altogether....?

How did you do it? My husband and I were seriously addicted to TV before DD was born (hubby still is). Growing up I could quote the whole movies to Breakfast club and Ferris buellers day off in 4th grade. I watched a lot of TV growing up (must not have affected me a lot though cause I got a bachelor's and MBA). Anyways, football season is coming up and my hubby has to watch every single game as well as everything on Sci fi channel, CSI, etc. etc. I DO NOT want my baby watching TV (she's 4 months and we don't turn it on while I'm home with her during the day). HOW do we come to a compromise between my husband and me? He says he's willing to throw the TV out all together and watch football somewhere else. Is this extreme? If you had absolutely no TV growing up would you feel deprived? Please relay to me how you went about the TV issue in your home. I want to know if you tossed the TV in the garbage, limited it and how you instituted these changes. Thanks.
