Blood is in my mucus?

I know that this is normal for bad sinus infections, but can it also indicate a low platelet count? I'm asking because I have a blood disorder (Evans Syndrome) that makes my hemoglobin and platelets drop. I keep a sinus infection, but never in my life have I noticed blood in my mucus. I don't want to go to my doctor 3 hours away for treatment if this is really not a big deal.
