Why are people so apathetic?

It is a sad time for the human condition..We are concerned about our immediate needs,,and none of our fellow human beings..Unless,, a family member,,or someone very close to us,,we are uninterested..Life in our modern day is complicated..However,,we have abandoned societal needs and comforts,,for a " I , me , my, " substitution.. One must take care of oneself and our immediates,,but,,it is now reached the level of self-centered ,self-consuming, selfishness..When someone can see a fellow human being in distress,hurt or endangered,,and ignore it,,we have sunk to a critical low point.. Nations ,operate for money,power and ,profit..Without regard to its citizenry..The citizenry has become ,only self-serving..Unless we instill in our children,the obvious righteousness and genuine sincerity and wiliness to help and share with one another,,all of the goodness and decency WE were taught while being raised,,will be lost..And the conditions today will continue and get worse..Sometimes a small incident such as happened to you ,,is a wake up call,,which allows us to make changes in our own lives..We can't change ALL the wrongs which exists,,and cure all the bad ills of humanity,, but we CAN control our own environment ,,and the attitudes of ourselves and those around us..People today are indifferent !!
