Hipsters: Whats the music scene like in Portland?

Whats the live music scene like for funky 35-year old hipsters who are into Indie music & some alt music; but mostly indie? What bands come through there, and often? Death Cab, Kristin Hersh, Postmarks, Of Montreal, VNV Nation, etc...
